So, last night, for my birthday I was treated to dinner on the Mt. Roberts Tram at the Timberline Bar and Grill. And, can I just tell you? The grilled halibut. To die for! I mistakenly ordered the grilled salmon with a white wine glace. Though that was tasty, I ended up passing that around to my four year old daughter and husband. I stole bite after bite off my husbands plate of the grilled halibut with the strawberry salsa. It was almost like eating desert. I wish I had taken a photo to show you. This dish also had a striking presentation for any reception. The pink of the berry salsa on top the white halibut with the green of the asparagus I substituted. The orzo pasta that accompanied the meal was quite lovely, but, to keep the meal on the lighter side, next time, I would ask to substitute the pasta for a green salad and keep the entire dish looking light and fresh.
We ended up splitting the chocolate bomb cake and the bread pudding. I am not a huge of chocolate and the denseness of this chocolate cake didn't do it for me, though my daughter certainly enjoyed it. I, on the other-hand, thoroughly delighted in the signature bread pudding with vanilla sauce. I could have eaten the entire piece. To all of you locals who have eaten at the tram in the past, I want to let you know the Mark Collier the new Food & Beverage/Special Events Manager is doing a wonderful job. I challenge you to giving the tram a try and letting me know what your thoughts are. And for you brides. Can you just imagine how spectacular and special your reception would be on the top Mt. Roberts?

I just had the opportunity to take a cruise with Juneau Tours and Whale Watch. What an amazing adventure. This company has several size boats that you can rent based on the needs of your event. You can either have your party on the boat or they can shuttle your guest to a remote beach and you can have a fabulous party on shore. The larger boats have the capability for catering and a bar tending. I have many ideas on how to decorate the blank canvas their boats currently are. And what an amazing story for your guests. You are guaranteed to see whales or your money back. A win-win scenario! This is perfect for the bride in off the cruise ships (one less excursion you need to make time for), the bride with numerous guest from out of town (an wonderful adventure) or the adventurous bride and groom who want something a little different! Plus they have shuttles from the cruise ships. Let me know when I can plan your nautical wedding. |
