Throwing an ice cream party is a great idea for a warm summer day. It is simple and the guests get to shake their wiggles out while making their own ice cream. I recommend keeping the ice cream recipe simple and let the guest add their favorite toppings be creative with gummy bears, mini, m&m's sprinkles, bananas, nuts, cherries, crushed oreos and sauces like chocolate, caramel and whipped cream. When creating a themed birthday, selectively choosing where to spend your money will help stretch your dollar. If the special themed table clothes or plates and cups are expensive, try purchasing one or two worth and supplementing with the less expensive solid color items. Then when you set the plates or cups on the table, mix and match the more pricey items with the cheaper ones to make it go further. For every little girl that likes pink, this party would be a huge hit. From custom handmade pink flower clips, pink ribbon dance, and small pink back packs for favors to a pink and white candy buffet with pink chocolate crowns on the cupcakes. These girls all had fun with activities like face painting and making bracelets, necklaces with pink and white beads. To save on confusion, you can also indicate in your invitations if you would like your guests to dress a certain way. In this case, our guest of honor wanted her guest to be donned in pink, while she stood out in purple. Even a simple, family-only birthday needs to be celebrated. This dinner was made more festive with a wonderful summer centerpiece of peonies, ranaculus, and calla lilies. Prepare a meal that is a outside of your normal box, like these easy vegetable and ground turkey stuffed bell peppers and your event will quickly be brought up a notch. Add some quick rosemary bread from costco, a salad and you have an elegant up scale meal to better celebrate any dinner party. This Minnie Mouse Club House Adventure party was a thrown for a precocious 4 year old girl. I helped with themed activities (A Minnie Mouse Bow Hunt, Make-Your-Own Mickey/Minnie Mouse gift pouches) several Mouse inspired decorations, and several hand scripted fonts. This party also had several guests that had food allergies. With this known I was able to recommend wonderful recipes and food options.
This party involved creative themed foods (Cow-Jumped-Over-the-Moon sandwiches, Humpty-Dumpty Deviled eggs, Jack and Jill went up a hill the get a pail of water-melon, Three Blind Mice cheese, Mary's Garden Vegetables and more), custom hand written signs, themed gift bags, activities (create your own Mother Goose) and decorations. A simple Underwater themed birthday party for a two year old girl, poolside was a fun get a way. Themed ocean foods (rice crispy sushi, tuna croissant sandwiches Swedish fish jello cups, blue lagoon punch), hand made party favors (starfish wands) decorations (balloon "sea foam", hand painted fish) and whimsical table centerpieces. |
